Wednesday night was our last Rock Up session at Colville House, and we ended it on a really high note, handing out the Bronze Arts Award Certificates to five of our participants.
At one point in the evening, I looked around the room and it was full of people making music and talking music together. As Bryan commented, ‘Back when we started, if you’d asked me what success would look like, this is what I would have described – everyone involved, making music together. It’s great.’
Talking of Bryan, I’d like to say a huge thank you to him for all his support, advice and commitment over the past years – he’s been a brilliant tutor, a great pal – and always with a great ear for an appropriate tune. Hopefully Matt, Sophie and Dan will be joining us to do more music in the future, but Bryan is going to concentrate on other areas of work now; he will be tremendously missed by everyone.
And another huge thank you is due to all the staff at Colville House, who have helped us every step of the way. They’ve always made us feel so welcome, they’ve joined in with all our ideas and suggestions, helped us put on summer schools and extra sessions and have just generally been there for us. Thank you all, so much.
And as ever, the biggest thank you goes to the young people who came along, got stuck in, and have gone on to achieve so much -we’re so proud of you all, keep on rocking, and watching this blog site, where we’ll keep you posted about future music projects from Suffolk Artlink.
